Glasgow born right half Matt Lynch began his football career with St Antony’s from where he signed for Glasgow Celtic in August 1934, making his Scottish League debut at Ayr United in November 1937. Celtic won The Scottish League in his debut season but his career was soon interrupted by the Second World War, during which he played wartime league football for Celtic scoring 28 goals in 143 wartime fixtures.
Lynch played his last match for Celtic against St Mirren in February 1947 and was released in 1948 after 14 years service with the club having scored twice in 63 matches for Celtic. He then joined Dumbarton in 1948 where he scored 3 goals in 33 matches during The Sons’ 1948-49 campaign before his retirement.
