Description
Newcastle born left winger John Graham began his football career with Black Diamonds around the turn of the century and joined First Division Newcastle United in November 1901, making his Football League debut against Bury that December. He made 6 appearances for The Toon through to the end of March but couldn’t find a way in to the first team in 1902-03 and left St James’ Park for newly elected Second Division club Bradford City in August 1903, playing in their inaugural League fixture at Grimsby Town the same month. Graham had two seasons at Valley Parade, where he was described as “quick witted and dextrous on the green”, scoring 9 goals in 59 appearances for The Bantams before leaving football in 1905.
