Wing half Frank McLaren made his Heart of Midlothian debut at Greenock Morton in a Scottish League match in February 1905, and went on to score 18 goals in 181 appearances for The Jambos, playing his last game at Falkirk in October 1912. He was part of the Hearts team that won the Scottish Cup in 1906 when, in addition to finishing runners up in The Scottish League, they beat Partick Thistle 1-0 in the Final at Ibrox. He also played in the Scottish Cup Final the following season, when Hearts, without Charlie Thomson, were well beaten 3-0 by Celtic.
