Description

Pegswood, Northumberland born winger Dick Brown played for Alnwick United in 1927 before joining Rochdale in 1928, making his Football League debut against Lincoln City in March 1929, his only appearance that season, although the following season he was a first team regular scoring 10 goals in 40 appearances before First Division champions Sheffield Wednesday signed him in June 1930. However he failed to make their first eleven and re-joined Alnwick United in 1931 before moving to Blyth Spartans, before he signed for Queen’s Park Rangers in May 1932. His 2 seasons at QPR saw 23 goals in 70 appearances before he re-joined Blyth Spartans in 1934, but he returned to Football League action with Northampton Town in August 1934, scoring 27 goals in 90 appearances for The Cobblers before signing for Nottingham Forest in May 1936. He played 20 times for Forest in 1936-37, scoring twice, before retiring from professional football.
