Blowick, Southport, Lancashire born centre half Billy Little began his football career with Norwood Crescent in 1910 and played for Blowick Working Lads in 1913 before joining Central League club Southport Central in 1918. When Southport, renamed, joined the Third Division (North) in 1921, Little played in their inaugural League fixture against Durham City that August and was a regular during Southport’s first five League seasons, only out of the team for a spell between August and October 1925.

After 8 goals in 172 appearances during their League seasons, he joined non league Lancaster Town in the 1926 close season and played for Burscough Rangers in 1927, Skelmersdale United in 1929 and Hesketh Park in 1930 before his eventual retirement.
