Description

West Calder, Lothian born full back Tommy Davidson started his football career with Dykehead in 1893 from where he joined Bury in December 1894, making his Football League debut at Lincoln City on Boxing Day of that year, and helping Bury to the Second Division Championship with 9 appearances on the run in that season, most notably the 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the end of season Test Match. His 6 seasons at Gigg Lane ended on a high as he helped Bury to win the 1900 FA Cup Final where they emerged victorious by four goals to nil over Southampton in front of 69,000 at The Crystal Palace. But that summer he joined Southern League Millwall Athletic after 131 appearances for The Shakers, and spent a year in London before joining Newcastle United in May 1901. In his first season he played 30 times as Newcastle finished 3rd in the League, however in 1902-03 he made only 13 further appearances and returned to The Southern League with Brentford in the summer of 1903. He finished his career with a spell at Bathgate in the Scottish League in 1908.
