Paisley, Renfrewshire born inside left Robert Stewart started his football career with junior club Stevenston United in 1914 before joining his hometown professional Scottish League club St Mirren in December 1919, playing three seasons at Love Street where he scored 4 goals in 23 appearances before moving to England to join Third Division (South) club Norwich City in 1922. He made his Football League debut against Northampton Town in October 1922 and made 15 appearances for Norwich in the Third Division (South) that season before finishing with professional football.
