Fazakerley, Liverpool born centre half Peter Burke played for Bootle Joint Ordnance Corps in 1927, joining Fazakerley ROF in 1928 and being an amateur on Liverpool’s books in 1929-30 without playing for their first eleven. He joined Prescot Cables in 1931 before signing for Second Division Oldham Athletic in May 1933, making his Football League debut at Nottingham Forest that September.
He scored 6 goals in 99 appearances for The Latics before transferring to Norwich City in December 1935, making 119 appearances for The Canaries before moving to Luton Town in June 1939. His Hatters career was brought to a premature end by the Second World War without playing for them and after the War he joined Southport in July 1946 playing a single match for them at Darlington that August before re-joining Prescot Cables later in 1946 before his eventual retirement.
