Knockentiber, Ayrshire born centre half John Fulton began his football career with Kilbirnie Ladeside and signed for Third Division (South) Luton Town in 1927, making his Football League debut at Norwich City that September. Having played around half of their matches in his debut season, he made 40 appearances during the 1928-29 campaign as Luton finished 7th in the League table. In three seasons at Kenilworth Road he played 86 games for The Hatters, before transferring to Norwich City in the 1930 close season. However he only ever played one match for the Canaries before moving into non league football with Vauxhall Motors of Luton the following year.
