Sunderland born inside forward Ted Rodgerson played for local junior club Boldon Colliery Welfare in 1912 before joining Huddersfield Town spending the early part of 1913-14 with the Leeds Road club without making a first team appearance. He joined Castleford Town later in 1914 before moving to Southern League Southend United in 1914 before his career was interrupted by the First World War. After the War he joined Second Division Bury in 1919, making his Football League debut at Bristol City that August and scoring 3 times in 13 appearances during Bury’s first post war campaign, before joining Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 1920. He played in their inaugural League fixture at Southend United in August 1920 and he scored 11 times in 57 appearances for The Seagulls over the next 2 seasons before joining Clapton Orient in the close season of 1922. However he couldn’t get into The O’s first eleven and he retired from professional football in 1923.
