Connah’s Quay, Flintshire born goalkeeper Teddy Peers played for Oswestry St. Clair’s in 1903, Chirk in 1904, having a trial with Shrewsbury Town in 1905. He then played for Connah’s Quay Juniors in 1906, Connah’s Quay Victoria in 1907, and Connah’s Quay in 1908 before advancing to the Football League with Second Division Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1911, making his Football League debut against Glossop in March 1912. He soon became Wolves’ undisputed glovesman, playing both sides of World War One. He was first capped for Wales in January 1914 when he played in a 2-1 defeat to Ireland at The Racecourse Ground Wrexham. During the War he guested for Walsall and Stoke City, making 59 wartime appearances for The Potters between 1917 and 1919.
With the War over he returned to Wolves but lost his place to Noel George for the 1921 FA Cup Final having played in two of the earlier rounds. After 198 games in Wolves’ goal he moved to non league Hednesford Town in 1921 but returned to Football League action in January 1922 with Port Vale, for whom he played 58 matches. He was the first Vale player to be capped whilst at the club. winning the last of his 14 caps in March 1923 in a 2-2 draw with England at Ninian Park, before returning to Hednesford Town later in 1923.
