Aboyne, Aberdeenshire born right back Alex Prior began his football career with Civil Service Strollers from where he joined Stenhousemuir, He transferred to Partick Thistle in July 1933, scoring twice in 31 matches for The Jags before a transfer to Hibernian in the 1936 close season. A regular during his time at Easter Road, he scored 4 goals in 105 matches for Hibs before the outbreak of the Second World War forced the abandonment of peacetime football and the War effectively ended his career. During the War he played as a wartime guest for Wrexham and Watford, and later moved to South Aftica where he coached football.
