Description
An interesting photograph including 3 players “added in” by a photograph doctor.
Back Row: Tommy Gibson, Billy Flint (doctored), Jack Foster, Arthur Pembleton, Albert Iremonger (doctored), George Streets, Arthur Woodland, Jimmy Bagshaw (doctored), Frank Marriott
Front Row: Ike Waterall, Harold Hill, Billy McLeod, Jack Cook, Horace Henshall
So take out the 3 doctored players, Arthur Woodland played 11 games in 1919-20 and not many when George Streets was in goal… BUT on his Notts County debut, 7th February 1920 v Bradford Park Avenue at Meadow Lane, Notts lost 2-0 (oddly all 3 of Woodland’s first 3 appearances were against Avenue as there was an FA Cup tie in there!) that exact team played, it’s the only one of his 11 games to feature that line up. So we can confidently assume the pre-doctored photograph was taken that day.
Jack Foster joined Luton Town at the end of the 1919-20 season, which confirms that the 1920-21 label at the bottom of the image is incorrect.
