Stockton, County Durham born outside left Thomas Lakey began his football career with Stockton in the late 1890’s from where he joined Second Division club Grimsby Town in the summer of 1899, making his Football League debut at Burslem Port Vale that September. He scored 11 goals as Grimsby Town won the Second Division Championship in 1901, but perhaps through injury never played again for the club after his final match at Blackpool that March, by when he had scored 14 goals in 31 matches. His career after Grimsby Town is unknown.
