Description
Kilmarnock born right half George Robertson began his football career with junior club Irvine Meadow and from there joined Kilmarnock in 1936, where he spent his entire senior career. He was part of the Kilmarnock team that played in the 1938 Scottish Cup Final, losing in a replay to East Fife. Described at the time as a “studious, attacking half back” he first received representative recognition when he was selected for The Scottish League in a 1-0 victory over The Football League at Ibrox in September 1937 and subsequently won a single cap for Scotland when he played against Czechoslovakia in a 5-0 victory at Ibrox in December 1937 but his career was cut short with the outbreak of the Second World War.
