Glasgow born left back George Newlands played junior football for Parkhead Oaklea, Parkhead Athletic, Vale of Clyde and Parkhead Juniors before joining Southern League club Queen’s Park Rangers in August 1900. He spent seven seasons with Rangers, and when released he joined Aberdeen on trial in May 1907, playing a single Scottish League match for them in a 2-0 defeat at Queen’s Park on May 4th, before returning to England to join Southern League club Norwich City later the same month. He had nearly five years in East Anglia before returning to Scotland to join Airdrieonians in March 1912. He moved to Dunfermline in December 1913 where he finished his career.
