Description

Croxley Green, Hertfordshire born outside left Dave Halford began his football career with Rowntree’s in 1931 before joining Midland League club Scarborough in 1932, from where he joined First Division Derby County. He made his Football League debut in a 2-0 win at Bolton Wanderers in January 1936 and scored 4 goals in 9 appearances before the end of the season.

He joined Bolton Wanderers in the 1936 close season but made only 8 appearances for The Trotters, scoring twice, in his two seasons at Burnden Park, before a move to Oldham Athletic in the summer of 1938. He scored 11 goals in 1938-39, being the club’s second top scorer, but his career was ended by the advent of the Second World War in September 1939 after only 30 appearances for The Latics.
