Marsden, Yorkshire born centre forward Fred Lunn played junior football for Marsden in 1919 before joining Second Division Huddersfield Town, for whom he made his Football League debut against Preston North End in September 1920, scoring twice in 6 appearances. He joined Sheffield Wednesday in the 1921 close season, scoring  4 goals in 12 appearances during 1921-22 before transferring to Bristol Rovers. He scored 10 goals in 31 appearances for The Pirates, and was the club’s top goalscorer but at the end of the season he moved again, this time joining Southend United. However at The Kursaal he scored twice in only 7 appearances over the season, and joined non league Nuneaton Town in 1924 ending his professional career.
