Barrhead, Renfrewshire born inside forward (who could play at all three central positions) Alec Logan began his football career with Barrhead Firenze from where he signed for Hibernian in 1902, making his Scottish League debut against Rangers that September, one of a pair of matches he played in that week before losing his place. He joined Airdrieonians in January 1903 on loan and moved to hometown club Arthurlie later the same year, scoring 18 goals in 34 appearances for The ‘Lie over the next two seasons. He then joined Falkirk for whom he scored 14 goals in 25 matches and while with Falkirk he was selected for The Scottish League, playing in a 0-0 draw with The Football League at Ibrox on 2nd March 1907, after which he was signed by First Division club Aston Villa, where his younger brother James was playing, making his Football League debut against Derby County on 23rd March 1907, scoring in a 2-0 victory.
A fringe player over three seasons at Villa Park, he scored 8 goals as Aston Villa finished runners up in the League Championship in 1907-08 before returning to Falkirk in 1909 after 12 goals in 25 matches for Villa. Once again, he performed well for The Bairns scoring 22 goals in 45 matches and in 1909-10 they missed out on the Scottish League title by two points. Logan was signed by First Division club Bristol City in December 1910 but he couldn’t help them avoid relegation at the end of the season and he remained at Ashton Gate until the start of 1912, scoring 9 goals in 37 matches for The Robins before returning to Scotland to join Kilmarnock. During 1912 he scored once in 25 matches for Killy but left at the year end to join Partick Thistle, where he finished his career in 1913.
His younger brother James Logan played for Queens Park, Aston Villa, Rangers, Partick Thistle, St Mirren and Arthurlie as well as representing The Scottish League and being a Scotland wartime international (unofficial) in 1916.Another brother, Tommy, played for Arthurlie, Falkirk and Chelsea.
