Description

North Staveley, Yorkshire born right half Abel Lee began his football career with Wombwell Rising Star in 1904 and played for Darfield United in 1905, from where he joined Second Division club Grimsby Town in 1906, making his Football League debut at Clapton Orient that November, one of four appearances he made in his debut season. A regular thereafter for the following three seasons, Lee had scored once, in an FA Cup replay win over Bristol City in January 1908, in 92 matches for The Mariners before they failed to get re-election in 1910. He then stayed at Blundell Park to help them win the Midland League Championship in 1910-11 and with it re-election to the Football League, but he moved to Southern League club New Brompton in the summer of 1911, his last known club before his eventual retirement.
