Description
New Ferry, Cheshire born right back Tom Fenner began his football career with Combination club Wrexham from where he was transferred to First Division club Bury in June 1910, making his Football League debut against Woolwich Arsenal the same September. A regular in The Shakers’ 1910-11 campaign, he lost his place after two matches early the following season which ended in relegation, Fenner returning to the side in February for 7 further top flight matches. He had a further season at Gigg Lane in the Second Division but lost his place in February 1913 and re-joined Wrexham in the 1913 close season after 59 appearances for Bury. His career was then effectively ended by the onset of the First World War.
NB he could well be the father of Notts County forward Tom Fenner although this is as yet uncertain.
