Coxlodge, Newcastle-upon-Tyne born inside left Jacky Lowes was an amateur footballer who began his playing career with Coxlodge United Methodists after the First World War and played for Gosforth & Coxlodge BL in 1920. He first joined Third Division (North) club Durham City in March 1921, while also playing for Chester-le-Street, making his Football League debut at Darlington that October, scoring in a 2-2 draw. In the final match of the season he scored a hat-trick in a 6-0 win over Wigan Borough, The following season he played 6 more League matches for Durham City but joined Craghead United in 1923. He played once again for Gosforth & Coxlodge BL in 1926 and was back on Durham City’s books in 1927-28 but didn’t add to his 6 goals in 11 appearances for them. He subsequently played for Trimdon Colliery United and Coxlodge Welfare before his eventual retirement.
