Goalkeeper William Allan signed for East Stirlingshire from Vale of Carron but fairly soon thereafter was signed by Falkirk for £10 in 1901 after only 14 games for East Stirlingshire. He moved to Glasgow Rangers in the 1904 close season, making his debut for The Gers in a defeat at Third Lanark that August, making 8 League appearances but also playing in a defeat to Celtic in the Glasgow Cup Final that October.
Allan then moved to Albion Rovers, where he played 19 games, and had three seasons with Falkirk before joining Hibernian in 1908, where he made 264 appearances, before returning to Falkirk. He would have four different spells with Falkirk during his career playing 154 games for The Bairns, and he also played for Clackmannan and Stenhousemuir.
