Description

Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire born left half Tom Breakwell began his football career as an amateur on the books of Blackpool in 1931, without making their first eleven, and joined Lytham in 1933 before signing for Bolton Wanderers in June 1935. He spent 1935-36 on the books at Burnden Park, again without getting a first team opportunity, and he then signed for Second Division Bradford Park Avenue in May 1936, making his Football League debut at Doncaster Rovers the same November.

He made 19 appearances for The Avenue as Bradford struggled to avoid relegation, but was not retained and joined Wrexham in June 1937, where he played twice in early September 1937 and only once more in February 1938 before he returned to The Fylde with Lancashire Combination club Fleetwood Town in the summer of 1939, his career effectively being ended by the outbreak of the Second World War that September.
