Description

Plumstead, London born centre half George Wolfe began his football career with Northfleet in 1897 and played for Folkestone in 1898 before joining local Second Division Woolwich Arsenal in March 1900, making his Football League debut against Burslem Port Vale that December. He made three appearances in his debut season and two further appearances in 1901-02, before joining Southern League Swindon Town in the summer of 1903, where he made 50 first team appearances over the course of the next two seasons.

He returned to Football League action with a move to First Division Nottingham Forest in May 1905, and although they were relegated in his first season at The City Ground, he helped them win the Second Division Championship in 1906 and remained a first team regular in the top flight until their relegation in 1911. During his final season he scored his only career goal in a 1-0 win at Sheffield United in October 1910, and by the time he re-joined non league Folkestone in the 1911 close season he had made 137 appearances for Forest.
