Description

West Bromwich born wing half Jack Whitehouse began his football career with Wednesbury Town in 1899 before joining First Division Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 1901 close season, making his Football League debut against Nottingham Forest the same September, immediately becoming a regular in the first team. He scored his only career goal in an FA Cup Second Round draw at Derby County in February 1904, which finished 2-2, although Derby eventually triumphed in a second replay, and had five seasons at Molineux, leaving the club after their relegation from the First Division in 1906 having made 155 appearances.

He joined non league Halesowen in the summer of 1906 but returned to Football League action with Stoke a year later, although he only managed two appearances before Stoke’s financial troubles forced them to drop out of the League. Whitehouse returned to non league football, playing for Stourbridge in 1907, then Bloxwich Strollers in 1908, Darlaston in 1909 and Dudley in 1910 before his eventual retirement.
