Lochwinnoch, Renfrewshire born inside forward Frank Walker was working as a civil servant, and like his older brothers before him, Jim and Willie (who was wounded fighting in the First World War) playing for amateur Scottish League club Queen’s Park, for whom he scored 6 goals in a dozen matches in 1916-17, when he was called up to serve with The Royal Field Artillery. Holding the rank of Bombardier, he was part of the Army of Occupation and was stationed in Cologne. On his return from Army service in 1919, he joined Third Lanark and enjoyed eight years at Caithkin Park, the highlight of which was winning a single cap for Scotland when he was selected in February 1922 in a 2-1 defeat to Wales at The Racecourse Ground, Wrexham. After retiring from football due to a broken leg, Walker became an income tax inspector. He also had played once aged 15 for famous Scottish club Abercorn.
