Ellesmere, Shropshire born left half Arthur “AG” Topham attended Keble College, Oxford University, earning his Blue in 1890. After leaving, he played for the The Casuals, Eastbourne, Chiswick Park and guested for The Corinthians club between 1893 and 1897. He played for England once when they beat Wales 5-1 at The Racecourse Ground, Wrexham in March 1894.

He was the younger brother of Robert Topham, also an England international and Corinthian.
