Description
Right half back James Riley appeared for Southern League clubs Reading from around 1904, Millwall Athletic from 1907, with whom he won a Western League Championship medal for 1908-09, and Brentford, scoring once for Brentford in 26 appearances during 1909-10. He was selected for an international trial match at Craven Cottage in January 1906 when he played for the Professionals against the Amateurs, but he didn’t subsequently win international honours.
It is possible he is James Edward Riley, a full back who made 3 appearances for Burnley between February 1906 and March 1907.
