Description

Renfrew born outside left Willie McNair was signed by Celtic in January 1905 from junior club Forth Rangers, making his only main appearance for The Bhoys in a 3-1 Scottish League triumph over Motherwell at Parkhead on 19th August 1905. He spent time on loan with Hamilton Academical in December 1905 before he left Celtic and joined East Stirlingshire in September 1906.

He then went on to play for Tottenham Hotspur (where he became a centre-forward), as an understudy for Vivian Woodward in 1907. However, McNair only played when Woodward was invited to take part in exhibition games. He scored on his Southern League debut in a 3-3 draw with QPR in the season that Spurs went up to the Football League, but by the time Spurs were promoted to the Second Division, McNair had left the club having scored 5 goals in 16 Southern League and FA Cup appearances.

He moved on to Aberdeen in May 1908, where he scored 3 goals in 15 appearances during 1908-09, also playing for Alloa Athletic towards the end of the season. In September 1909 he returned to the Southern League with Reading, where he finished his professional career.
