Attercliffe, Sheffield born right back Tom Prescott began his football career with Liverpool East End in 1890 and played for Hamilton Athletic in 1891, Crosse in 1892 and Liverpool South End in 1893 from where he signed for Second Division club Notts County in the summer of 1896, making his Football League debut against Loughborough in September 1896. He missed two matches in his debut season as The Magpies won the Second Division Championship, and was an ever present in their first season back in the top flight. He had nine seasons at Trent Bridge but lost his place in September 1904 having scored once, in a 3-2 win over Newcastle United in October 1903, in 230 matches for Notts County, where he subsequently became the club’s trainer.
