North Shields, Northumberland born centre half George Pattison began his football career with Wallsend after the end of the First World War, from where he was signed by First Division club Arsenal in 1919, making his Football League debut against Bradford Park Avenue in May 1920. Pattison was then employed in 6 matches at the back end of the 1920-21 season and 3 further matches around the 1922 new year before a transfer to West Ham United in the 1922 close season. He spent 1922-23 at Upton Park as understudy to George Kay without making a first team appearance for The Hammers, and his career after West Ham United is uncertain.
