New Seaham, County Durham born centre half Fred Parker was on the books of Manchester City in 1914-15 but didn’t play for their first eleven, and after the First World War he joined Nottingham Forest in 1919, making his Football League debut at Rotherham County that August. He became a Forest regular and played 40 times as they won the Second Division Championship in 1921-22, but he increasingly struggled to hold down a regular first team spot and was released to join Southport in 1926 after 6 goals in 164 appearances. However he didn’t make a single first team appearance at Haig Avenue and subsequently retired from professional football.
