Bonhill, Dunbartonshire born winger Jack Getty played junior football for Glasgow Ashfield in 1935 before joining Second Division Nottingham Forest a year later, making his Football League debut against Blackburn Rovers in December 1936. Of his 18 appearances for Forest, 11 came in his final season, 1938-39, as did his two goals, when he scored at Bradford Park Avenue and Chesterfield, both goals coming in December 1938. He returned to Scotland with Dumbarton in 1939 prior to the outbreak of the Second World War.
