Dundee born centre forward David Paris played both sides of the Second World War, having started his career at junior side Dundee Arnot. Described as “one of the rolling stones of football”, bis clubs included Alloa Athletic, Arbroath (for whom he played one match as a trialist at Ayr United in October 1947), Brechin City, East Fife, Montrose, and Stirling Albion. It was said of him: “Chockful of courage he has a grand scoring hit and he is very slick with his head… and provides inspiration and drive to the forward rank”.
In 1946-47 he scored 3 goals in 3 matches for Stirling Albion, and after Arbroath he joined Alloa Athletic in October 1947, scoring 14 goals in 18 matches from his debut against Leith Athletic through to the season end. He joined Brechin City in August 1948 before finishing his career at Montrose, whom he joined in August 1952, where he played until his eventual retirement.
