Description
Sunderland born wing half Arthur Housam played junior football for Hylton Colliery in 1936 before joining First Division Sunderland in May 1937, making his Football League debut against Preston North End in May 1938. He scored twice in 23 appearances the following season before the Second World War significantly interrupted his career, but after the War he returned to Roker Park and was a regular in their 1946-47 first eleven. His last appearances were in August 1947 (possibly due to injury), before he joined non league Horden Colliery Welfare in 1948 after 3 goals in 70 appearances for The Wearsiders.
