Description

Chorley, Lancashire born left back Charlie Ostick played for Chorley in the late 1890’s and played his first “senior” match in an FA Cup tie at Darwen in November 1897 in a match that finished as a 2-2 draw. He joined First Division Bolton Wanderers around 1900 and made his Football League debut at Preston North End in March 1901, playing 27 times the following season. He played only 8 matches as they were relegated from the First Division in 1902-03, and only two games in the earlier rounds in the FA Cup as the club got to the 1904 FA Cup Final, but he found himself back in the first team on a regular basis in 1904-05 and played 24 times as Bolton won promotion back to the top flight as Second Division runners up. However he only played 4 more times for The Trotters back in the First Division, his last appearance coming against Everton in March 1906, and he left the club after having made 87 appearances in total. His career thereafter is uncertain.
