Beighton, Sheffield born outside left Harold Milner started his football career with Whitwell Colliery in 1922 and from there joined Third Division (North) Chesterfield, making his Football League debut against Bradford Park Avenue in December 1923. He made 4 League appearances for Chesterfield that month, all within a week either side of Christmas, and left Saltergate in 1924 to join non league Thurnscoe Victoria. Later in 1924 he played for ex-League club Gainsborough Trinity, and in 1925 he joined Loughborough Corinthians before re-joining Chesterfield, spending 1925-26 on their books without making any further first team appearances.
He joined Newark Town in 1926, Mansfield Town in 1927, Staveley Town in 1928, Frickley Colliery in 1929 and Hurst in 1930, before joining Ashton National in 1933, Winsford United in 1934, Mossley in 1935 and finishing his playing career with Stalybridge Celtic in 1936.
