Lincoln born outside right Charlie Millington began his football career playing for junior clubs Midland Athletic in 1901, Newark Avenue in 1902, Grantham in 1903 and Ripley Athletic in 1904 before joining First Division Aston Villa in the 1905 close season, making his debut at Nottingham Forest in October 1905, scoring in a 2-2 draw. A speedy winger, his debut season was notable for a 4 goal burst in an 11-0 thrashing of non league Kings Lynn in January 1906, leaving him with 7 goals in his first 7 Villa appearances.

The following season he played regularly scoring 7 goals in 29 appearances as Villa finished 5th in the League Championship, but he lost his place in the new season, making only one further appearance before being sold to new League club Fulham in October 1907. Scoring 16 goals for Fulham that season, of which 3 came in their FA Cup run, he helped Fulham to the 1908 FA Cup semi final where they were heavily beaten by Newcastle United at Anfield.

After a further season at Craven Cottage he joined Birmingham in the close season of 1909 after 22 goals in 65 appearances for Fulham, staying three seasons at St Andrew’s where he scored 13 times in 86 appearances. He left Birmingham in the summer of 1912 moving to non league Wellington Town, and joining Brierley Hill Alliance in 1913, and after a spell with Stourbridge in 1914, finishing his career with Oakengates Town whom he joined the same year.
