Liverpool born outside right William Michaels had a brief football career at the top level and little is known of his career prior to joining hometown First Division club Everton, for whom he made his Football League debut in a 2-1 home defeat to Sheffield United in October 1909. A month later, he played in a 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest, and in January 1910 he made a final appearance for The Toffees in a 2-1 victory over Preston North End. He was retained on the roster of Everton players announced in June 1910 but he joined Egremont F.C. on The Wirral later the same year.
