There were a number of Mehaffy family members, most of whom were goalkeepers. Bertie played for Ireland and a number of Irish and English clubs and younger brother John between them played four times for the Irish League. Further brothers David and Hugh, also played for Linfield. Add to that the fact that Billy and Elisha Scott were their cousins and another Mehaffy, Sam, had played in goal for Distillery and the Irish League in 1911-12 and the clan have some legacy.
Clearly also a goalkeeper, I suspect this Mehaffy could be Joe and Jack’s father, and would welcome any further information.
