Inside forward Jimmy McGregor joined St Mirren in December 1932 from junior club Benburb. In his first full season he played for St Mirren in the Scottish Cup Final in front of 113,000 people at Hampden Park although they were well beaten by Rangers.
While at St Mirren he was a mainstay of their attack during the mid 1930’s, playing at all three inside forward positions, being described as “versatile… an outstanding inside forward, for he is strongly built and possesses a good shot”. He scored 71 goals in 126 appearances for The Buddies before joining Forfar Athletic in April 1938.
