Description

Innellan, Argyll born full back Charlie McFadyen started his senior career with First Division Preston North End in 1907 and made his Football League debut against Sunderland in January 1908, being an increasingly regular figure in their team over the next few seasons. Although they were relegated to the Second Division in 1912 he was an ever present as they immediately bounced back winning the 1913 Second Division Championship. However they were once again relegated in 1914, and McFadyen left Preston after a single goal in 170 appearances to join Everton. While Everton won the League Championship in 1914-15, such was the strength of their team that he never made a single first team appearance for The Toffees, and his career was finished by the onset of the First World War which forced the suspension of peacetime football.
