Bridgeton, Glasgow born left back Bill McCurdy began his football career with Vale of Clyde, from where he joined Second Division club Luton Town in May 1899, making his Football League debut at Grimsby Town that September. He had a single season at Kenilworth Road, missing only 3 matches, making 35 appearances, but seemingly was injured in April 1900 and didn’t play again for The Hatters before a transfer to First Division Nottingham Forest in February 1901. A fringe player at The City Ground, he played only 11 matches before a move o Southern League club New Brompton (now Gillingham) in 1902.

After 52 matches over two seasons in Kent, he joined Tottenham Hotspur in 1904 but played just a dozen matches for Spurs before a return to New Brompton in 1905. He then returned to Luton Town in 1906 and featured in their eleven for four seasons before his retirement in 1910.
