Description

Scottish born right half George Mann began his senior football career with St Bernard’s in 1890 and played forĀ East Stirlingshire in 1891 before heading south to join First Division Blackburn Rovers in 1892, making his Football League debut against Preston North End that October, scoring on his only other outing for Rovers in a 4-4 draw at Newton Heath (now Manchester United) a week later.

He joined Second Division Ardwick, a season later to be renamed Manchester City, in the 1894 close season and had three seasons at Hyde Road, scoring 7 goals in 64 appearances for The Citizens, and helping them to finish runners up in the Second Division in 1895-96, although they missed out on promotion losing to Small Heath in the Test matches. He joined Southern League Bristol City in the 1897 close season, his last known club, where he scored 9 goals in 24 League appearances over the next two seasons before leaving The Robins.
