Stourbridge, Worcestershire born goalkeeper Dick Mann began his football career with Burton All Saints in 1920 before joining Second Division South Shields, spending 1921-22 on their books without making a first team appearance. He joined Walsall in the 1922 close season, making his Football League debut against Bradford Park Avenue the same September and spending a single season at Fellows Park, where he made 35 appearances in total for Walsall. He then joined non league Brierley Hill Alliance in 1923 and left the professional game.
