Description

Alva, Clackmannanshire born goalkeeper Jock Leckie began his football career with Alva Albion Rangers in 1925 from where he joined Scottish League club St Johnstone in 1926, going on to play for both Alloa Athletic and Raith Rovers in 1927, from where he moved to Ireland in 1929 to join League of Ireland club Bray Unknowns.

He returned to England with Second Division club Port Vale and made his Football League debut against Tottenham Hotspur in April 1932, playing one more match at Manchester United before the end of the season, Vying with Allan Todd and Ben Davies for the gloves, he played 22 matches the next season for The Valiants before leaving The Old Recreation Ground for Stockport County in the summer of 1933. He played just 5 matches for The Hatters, however, during a single season at Edgeley Park.

More regular football came with a move to Cardiff City in the 1934 close season, where he played 49 matches in two seasons as The Bluebirds struggled towards the foot of the Third Division (South), which was followed by a move to Walsall in the summer of 1936, Leckie playing 32 matches for The Saddlers during his single season at Fellows Park. He finally joined Carlisle United at the summer of 1937 and played in the first 8 matches at the start of their 1937-38 campaign before losing his place (perhaps through injury) and his career after Carlisle is unknown.
