Annan, Dumfrieshire born left back or outside left played for Annan Athletic in 1917 and then for Queen of the South before they had joined the Scottish League. He joined North Eastern League club Workington in 1922 and “rendered great service” being “a favourite with the crowd”. He never played League football however.
His older brother John, an inside left, played 5 matches in the Football League for Accrington Stanley in the autumn of 1924 after they had played together at Queen of the South and Workington.
