Winshill, near Burton born winger Harry King played junior football for Winshill St Mark’s in 1896, Burton Alma in 1898, Swadlincote Town in 1900 and Newhall Swifts in 1901 before joining Second Division Burton United in July 1902, making his Football League debut against Glossop the same September. He was a permanent fixture in the team for four seasons before re-joining Winshill St Mark’s in 1906 after 21 goals in 136 appearances. He re-joined Burton United in 1907, but by now they had lost their League status. He joined Stafford Rangers in 1909 and from 1910 played for a variety of amateur clubs in the East Midlands including Burton Town, Chesterton White Star, Gresley Rovers and Measham United.
