Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester born outside left Joe Jee made his Football League debut for First Division club Bolton Wanderers against Arsenal in December 1907 and made 7 appearances for The Trotters, scoring on New Year’s Day in a win over Manchester City, in a season that saw Bolton relegated. Jee was not retained and joined Southern League Brighton & Hove Albion during the close season, spending two years at The Goldstone Ground where he scored 5 goals in 31 appearances before returning in the 1910 close season to Football League action signing for newly elected Second Division club Huddersfield Town.
Jee played in their inaugural Football League match at Bradford Park Avenue and scored 11 goals during the campaign, missing only one match in the process. He was an ever present for the next two seasons and played 180 matches for The Terriers, scoring 31 goals, over five seasons through to the suspension of peacetime football due to the onset of the First World War in May 1915. On resumption of peacetime football in 1919, he joined Central League club Nelson before his retirement, which came before Nelson joined the Football League in 1921.
